About the project

The international project GG4A: Innovative Intercultural Reading Promotion promotes and contextualises six high quality European literary works for young readers from minority or lesser-known literatures, most of them written in lesser-used languages. Leading authors from Slovenia, the Basque Country and Portugal will be translated into Macedonian, Slovenian, Basque, Spanish and Portuguese by renowned translators.
The project’s translation dissemination activities in five languages are based on research on reading literacy, which in the digital age needs new tools to reach new audiences. The tools for literacy education include the use of an interactive platform through which the weading ability is linked to digital competence with the use of gymification and pre-prepared ludic activities that involve competition, group work and creativity.
Other activities in the project are creative writing workshops which, in addition to providing a different type of activity for young people, also provide materials (manuals, webinars, videos) for teachers, teacher trainers and librarians that can be used after the end of the project. Networking is an important activity: workshops for consortium members, sharing of best practices within and outside the consortium in B2B meetings, large and small book fairs and video presentations for publishers in Latin America.
Five public events will be organised during the project with the participation of authors and their translators.
When it comes to YA literature, there are always two addressees. Although the project’s activities are aimed at young people, they also address adults (professionals, teachers, librarians, the general public). The members of the consortium are convinced that the results of the project will be of benefit to all the addressees, as well as to the societies of European countries and beyond, especially in Latin America.
