GG4A Reading Project
Raising reading literacy and developing intercultural competences

The GG4A reading project was conceived by Malinc Publishing House in cooperation with KUD Sodobnost International, based on their long experience with reading projects. The project is conceived as a reading competition with gamification elements, linking books with online media. In this way, it raises reading literacy, while at the same time promoting intercultural competence through a selection of books from different literatures. It is aimed at students aged 13-15.
Digital competences and intergenerational cooperation
The mentors in the project share their love of reading and books with their pupils, who in turn help them to learn how to use digital tools. The project is run entirely through Classcraft, an online platform developed by teachers in Canada, which is becoming increasingly popular in Slovenia. The platform can be accessed by both students and tutors via computer or phone with a special e-mail address, thus ensuring the safety of all participants. Intergenerational collaboration between mentors and students increases the digital literacy.
In-depth reading, games and attractive prizes
The reading project is designed in a competitive spirit. Pupils compete in threes and each team chooses its own nickname. The aim of the competition is for the teams to solve the book riddles gradually discover the titles of the books read in the project and actively demonstrate that they have read them. The team that achieves all the objectives in the fastest, most creative and most successful way and scores the highest number of points wins. The team that scores the highest number of points goes on a trip with their mentor.
