Literary Competition

You have watched all ten writing prompts. Did you complete the tasks that Alex and Barbara encouraged you to do? Have you started thinking about your writing? Then you will easily complete the task ahead of you and ensure your text has an international audience.

LITERARY COMPETITION FOR READING COMPETITION PARTICIPANTS

Are you interested in writing but don’t know how to get started? Do you have words, passages, characters and stories running through your head that you would like to capture on paper, but you don’t know where to start? Would you like to amaze and inspire others with your texts? Then we have a great opportunity for you to familiarize yourself with the basics of creative writing, learn useful writing techniques and share your texts with readers in your country and abroad!

This year, we are preparing an additional challenge for all participants of the GG4A reading competition: 10 creative writing video workshops and an e-brochure with practical exercises and instructions for young writers. But the best part of the workshops is the literary contest; the best texts of [your country] participants and participants from other countries participating in the project will earn publication in the e-brochure.

The theme of this year’s competition is:

FEAR

Everyone is afraid of something, but we experience fears in very different ways.

You can participate in the competition individually in three categories:

· Poetry: you can send a poem written in a fixed form (sonnet, gazelle, quatrain, etc.) or a poem in free verse with any number of verses to the competition. You can also submit one of the poems created as part of the contest, but the song must cover the theme of the contest, and you can also rework it to take into account the corrections and comments suggested by the judges.

· Excerpt from a diary: you can send one or more diary entries to the competition, in which one of the themes or motifs is fear. The length of all log entries should not exceed 5,000 characters with spaces. You can also submit a text created as part of the competition, but it must include the topic of the competition, and you can also reformulate it to take into account the corrections and comments suggested by the reviewers.

· Short story: you can send a short story to the competition, which (among other things) will also talk about fear. Perhaps fear has a different effect on your characters and/or their relationships, or on the narrator. Here he adheres to the principle: Show, don’t tell! (You can find more about this principle in one of the videos). The short story should not exceed 10,000 characters with spaces.

How can you participate?

· Texts for the submission contest until April 30, 2025 in the dedicated space on the Moodle portal. Each team member can submit their own text, and each team can submit a maximum of three different texts.

What are the rewards?

The winners will be determined by an expert jury. We will announce the results of the competition by June 1, 2025.

Each winner in each category will receive a book prize, and their texts will be collected in an e-brochure, which will combine the contributions of participants from all countries of the European GG4A project and will be published on the websites of Založba Malinc, KUD Sodobnost International, (Slovenia) Alberdania publishers (Spain ), Skaznuvalka (North Macedonia) and Trinta por uma linha (Portugal), on the website of the project on the EU portal. The members of the expert jury can choose several high-quality contributions for publication at their own discretion.

Show your courage and face your fears through literary creation. You can also inspire others with your story!
